Eardisley Castle

Hereford & Worcester
SO 311 491

Photographs copyright 2002 by Laurie Oliver

This was a rectangular enclosure (castle) with a motte. The bailey was surrounded by a moat fed by a stream. It may have been built late in the 11th century at the time of the Norman advance into Wales. The castle is mentioned in the reigns of Henry II and John, but there is little further information.
